Tesco adopts Rascal throughout the UK

The Rascal system designed by Open Projects operates on a Symbol PDAs using the Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system.

The PDA is regularly updated from a central website also constructed by Open Projects, containing the latest information on all magazines and newspapers.

The system allows Tesco to check that the issues on sale in store agree with the range planned for the particular store. The system also warns staff when to collect unsold copies in accordance with the sale or returns requirements of the publisher. The system can also be used to collect market intelligence direct from Tesco’s retail estate.
